Wow I thought i would be like the last person to comment on this anime.

Well I have to cast my vote for this show, Kurenai, to be the best show of the season. Shows like this is the very reason I watch anime.

From Episode 1 it was exciting, engaging, and kept me wanting for more.

I wont spoil, but I loved everything about this anime. The story was phenomenal.

I usually have a rule that if the first season was so good. Then I don't want to give the creators a chance to mess things up with a second season. But, I would love a second season. Even if it was all drama. I want a second season.

Absolutely brilliant.

I did like Kurenai, but I don't think I'd call it the best of the season for one simple reason: the horn thing that comes out of his arm. Of the whole 12 episode show, they only showed it twice where it had any sort of significance at all, and that significance was negligible at best. It was a useless plot device that could have just as easily been substituted for a gun or a bladed weapon so that the show didn't have a sci-fi undertone to it. Think about it for a minute. If Shinkuro didn't have the thing, it wouldn't have changed the show in any significant way. His training under Benika was a good enough reason for me to believe that he wanted to protect people because he was serious about his training and was good at his job.

Well I for one can say that the horn represented what he didn't like most about himself. The horn was sorta like a gun for him. When he felt like he needed extra strength that horn was supposed to give it to him.

Benika's training wasn't enough for him. Seeing as he used Hoizuki Ryu or however u spell it. The horn was also Hoizuki Ryu. Don't forget that the chick that likes him in his school is a assassin and she trained him regularly.

But imo, there is no other show that was as good this series. Consistently being good episode in and out.
