oniyome nikki ( Wife From Hell )
This drama is about a man (played by Gori) who believes that his wife (played by Mizuki Arisa) is an "oniyome". The word literally means "demon wife", and is defined as a wife who treats her husband badly and generally has demon-like qualities. They also have a young daughter who is already beginning to take after her mother.
-------------------- SPOILER WARNING --------------------
In the first episode, the oniyome makes her husband move all their things into their new house by himself while she is out getting a professional massage. She likes to bother him at work about stuff she needs him to buy for her too. She is generally selfish and just doesn't have much consideration for her husband. This combined with the husband's general bad luck makes life a living hell for him. We follow the husband around as the main protagonist, so that we can feel sympathy for his situation, and at the end of every day he enters his woes into his blog he calls "oniyome nikki", so that everyone can read about his suffering.
The family has just moved to a nice house in the neighborhood where AT-HOME DAD took place. No, that wasn't a joke. It really is the same fictional neighborhood. The characters Oozawa Kenji and Saeko-sensei from AT-HOME DAD are in this drama too. They are married now and have their own house in the upper-middle class neighborhood. They are even bigger characters in this drama than they were in AT-HOME DAD. None of the other characters are back, but the family from AT-HOME DAD are mentioned once in the first episode just to prove to us that, YES, it really IS the same place. It would be kind of cool if some of the other AT-HOME DAD characters made a cameo or two in the later episodes, but it probably won't happen.
