Ryuk does kill Light, but like 10 episodes after L dies. He kills him because Matsuda unloaded an entire clip into Lights chest, and he was bleeding out fast. So Ryuk fulfills his promise to write Lights name in his Notebook.

There are both pros and cons to this ending. As a con, it SUCKED horribly. They could have ended it with light winning, but they had to go and be a bastard and kill him. The pro is that there is no way that this series could be revived for a crappy sequel, even though Misa Misa is still alive. they should have killed her off as well.

i guess the fans wanted "Light" to live. but what the hell did ya expect?? he was bound to get caught sooner or later. And besides...i Believe that detective played a big roll in that anime. GIve HIM some credit too. If light had kill him. Things would have definately turned out different. Agreed??
