Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden is more than just a TV series,
it's a cultural phenomenon. First aired in 2001, the immensely popular
drama swept over Asia and launched the four unknown leads - Jerry Yan,
Vic Chou, Vanness Wu, and Ken Chu - into international stardom. The
boys became so popular they promptly formed the pop group F4, a name
taken from the drama. Based on the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango, Meteor Garden's
refreshing youth-oriented romance attracted many fans throughout Asia
and started a new wave of "idol drama" production in Taiwan.
The tough, hardworking Shan Cai (Barbie Hsu) attends an exclusive
university, because her comical parents hope that she will be able to
thus find a wealthy boyfriend. Shan Cai, however, finds her shallow,
privileged classmates unbearable, especially the notorious F4. Rich,
handsome, and arrogant, Dao Ming Si (Jerry Yan), Hua Ze Lei (Vic Chou),
Mei Zuo (Vanness Wu), and Xi Men (Ken Chu) are the kings of the school
and no one, not even the professors, dare challenge them. No one, that
is, except Shan Cai. Angry at their rudeness, Shan Cai tells off the
members of F4, bringing a world of trouble upon herself. The proud and
persistent Dao Ming Si falls hard for the feisty Shan Cai, but she
shares a connection with the quiet and sensitive Hua Ze Lei. Caught
